Hiromi Kiba (they/them) is a NYC based artist, born in Ise, Japan. Growing up in a fishing village along Kii peninsula, they found outlets in records, fashion, punk gigs, and night clubbing in their early age. Kiba is making a full circle by performing as a vinyl DJ now.

A mirror ball has been a recurring image in their work since they were in art school. It took them another 20 years to finally share their memories and begin deconstructing in various formats. Because music has had an impact on their spiritual and mental health on the deepest levels. Dancing has been also therapeutic and helped release their first poem, titled, ‘Mirror Ball’.

Kiba’s interdisciplinary practice includes poem, performance, video, installation, and printmaking. They have been experimenting a poetry performance series in collaboration with visual and sound artists since 2019.

伊勢市に生まれたキバヒロミはニューヨーク在住のアーティスト。紀伊半島沿いに位置する漁師町に育った。１０代の頃に、レコード、ファッション、パンクのギグ、（ナイト）クラブ活動に『出口』を見い出した。近年はレコードをプレイするDJとして活動の場を広げ、一度は高校卒業後に志した場所へ舞い戻ってきている。

アートスクール時代から繰り返してきたイメージはミラーボール。さらに２０年の時が経ち、ようやく記憶をシェアし、様々なフォーマットで解体しはじめた。それも音楽が精神とメンタルヘルスにいちばん深いインパクトを与えたのがきっかけ。ダンスにも治癒力があり、初の詩となった『ミラーボール』のリリーの助けを担った。

キバのアート実践は、おもに、詩、パフォーマンス、ビデオ、インスタレーション、版画と異なる分野をまたぐ。２０１９年からビジュアルまたはサウンド・アーティスト達とコラボしながら実験を続けている。
